Rule Change! Automatic Clerk Review for Confidential Information in Civil Filings Ends in July

Effective July 1, 2021 Florida clerks of court will no longer review civil filings for confidential information before putting those documents in public court files. The responsibility will now fall on lawyers. Acting on its own motion, the Florida Supreme Court amended Rule of Judicial Administration 2.420, which governs access to court records and the procedures for determining confidentiality of court records on January 21, 2021, in SC20-1765.

Here is a link to the Courts Opinion.

To allow an opportunity for public comments, these amendments will not take effect until July 1, 2021, at 12:01 a.m. All comments must be filed with the Court on or before April 6, 2021.
