GOOD Guys

Research has repeatedly shown that the key to achieving gender parity is to engage men in the advancement of women lawyers and in the quest for gender equality. Back in September and November, 2016 MDFAWL launched the GOOD Guys program; "GOOD" stands for Guys Overcoming Obstacles to Diversity. This program was created by the National Conference of Women's Bar Associations and recognizes male managing partners and firm leaders in Miami-Dade County who MDFAWL acknowledges as champions and supporters of women lawyers who are dedicated to advancing and promoting women in the legal profession.

At the 2016 launch, MDFAWL hosted two dinners attended by over sixty male firm leaders and decision makers who committed to completing three items on this Monday Morning To Do List and to sign the GOOD Guys Pledge. In addition to recognizing individual male leaders, MDFAWL recognized law firms that have taken, and continue to take, steps to improve gender equality in the practice of law and who support MDFAWL and its mission.

Three years later, MDFAWL's GOOD Guys program is back and better than ever. We kicked off this year with a private wine tasting for our GOOD Guys, future GOOD Guys, and their female junior attorneys. The event was hosted by John Kozyak and was a huge success. See for yourself! We have lots more in store for this year and we hope that you'll join us.

Because the engagement of male managing partners and leaders is critical to the professional development and advancement of women lawyers, specifically junior women lawyers, we want to recognize each and every one of our GOOD Guys and our GOOD Guy firms (keep scrolling!) for their incredible commitment to this program and to MDFAWL an its mission. We hope their work encourages other male change-makers to join the fight for gender parity.

If you haven't yet committed to being one of the GOOD Guys, we encourage you to do so today - click here to sign up!

I believe male lawyers and judges have an obligation to ensure that women not only have a seat at the table, but that they play an important role in every aspect of the legal profession.
