Elizabeth B. Honkonen
Where do you work?
Kenny Nachwalter, P.A.
What type of legal work do you do?
Complex business litigation, with a significant portion devoted to antitrust and to professional liability defense.
What was your most rewarding professional achievement?
One moment that stands out for me was having a lawyer I had defended in a professional liability case introduce me to other lawyers as their "favorite lawyer." It was a special honor to learn that I had helped to ease a very difficult time in their life, and that they appreciated our work and how much we cared about them and their case. Feeling like I helped to ease a really difficult time in their life was very special.
What advice do you have for women in the legal profession?
My biggest regret is that I was (and, to some extent, still am) overly cautious about trying new things professionally and tended to "stay in my lane" a little too much. So I would advise women to be fearless and to have the confidence to take on new challenges. We are often too hard on ourselves. If you put in the work and prepare, you are most of the way there, and you will continue to improve.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you use it?
If it has been a tough day, 30 minutes on a heavy bag will do the trick.
