Sarah Clasby Engel
Where do you work?
The Engel Firm
What type of legal work do you do?
The vast majority of my practice is as a mediator and an arbitrator with the AAA.
What was your most rewarding professional achievement?
After bringing and/or defending class actions for decades, my most rewarding professional achievement is putting that experience to use helping parties settle class actions as a mediator. I love the complexity, moving parts and creative solutions we find.
What advice do you have for women in the legal profession?
Learn from others, but always strive to be authentically yourself.
What does your pro bono practice look like?
Pro bono cases seem to find me. It’s hard to say no to a client in need. I have learned so much from my pro bono cases, which often take me outside my comfort zone.
When you have 30 minutes of free time, how do you use it?
I usually call my sister and chat about everything and nothing. And laugh.
