MDFAWL Trial Skills Workshop

The 2022-2023 MDFAWL Trial Skills Workshop is a hands-on, learning-by-doing trial skills two-day training. This advanced course is an interactive format led by experienced circuit court judges in Miami-Dade County. The workshopprovides 16.5 civil trial board certified CLE credits (currently pending with the Florida Bar). The faculty consists of knowledgeable and qualified trial lawyers practicing in South Florida. This is a concentrated program for all levels of attorneys who want to learn and practice new techniques and/or refresh their trial skills in the courtroom; simultaneously, participating attorneys will build mentoring relationships with the leading county, circuit, and appellate court judges, as well asdistinguished women litigators in the community.

Attorneys will be selected, based on a first come, first served basis. When your registration is processed, you will receive the program materials in advance of the program. The case file for this program is used as a source of facts and law for the training. Following the first day of virtual lectures, discussion and demonstrations, attorneys will then present these skills in the courtroom through participatory exercises with seasoned mock witnesses in the courtroom. Following your performances, you will receive constructive critique and suggestions from experienced trial lawyers on how you can be more effective. There will be an option to have your presentations recorded. Advance preparation is critical to the success of the program and your own learning. You are expected to attend all sessions. Day Two: Friday, February 24, 2023 8AM-5PM in person, Children’s Courthouse- 155 NW 3rd Street, Miami FL 33128 (breakfast and lunch catering provided).
