Ardith Bronson

Ardith Bronson is of Counsel at DLA Piper. She primarily focuses her practice in complex commercial litigation in the healthcare industry and represents clients in wide-ranging litigations involving Unfair and Deceptive Trade Practices Statutes, ERISA, Medicare, False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute, RICO, and other claims impacting the managed-care industry. Ms. Bronson also has extensive experience handling bankruptcy litigation, derivatives litigation, as well as products liability actions.

In addition to serving on Miami-Dade FAWL’s Board of Directors, Ardith Chairs the Publications Quality Control Committee and serves as Co-Chair of the Pro Bono Committee.

Lauren Brunswick, Esq.

Lauren Brunswick is a Director of Miami-Dade FAWL, and is the founder of Miami Dade FAWL’s Young Lawyers Division. Lauren practices commercial, real estate and land use litigation with Shubin & Bass, P.A. She received her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her law degree from University of Pennsylvania (magna cum laude) where she was Senior Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. Lauren practiced law in Boston at an international law firm prior to moving to Miami. In her free time, she enjoys competing in and coaching sports.

Stephanie A. Casey

Stephanie A. Casey is a Director of Miami-Dade FAWL and a member of the Federal Court Liaison Committee and the Leadership Committee. Stephanie is an attorney at Colson Hicks Eidson, where she practices in the areas of class action, commercial, and personal injury litigation. In addition to her practice, she is also an Adjunct Professor at the FIU College of Law. Stephanie joined Colson Hicks Eidson after completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Marcia G. Cooke of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Prior to her clerkship, Stephanie worked for several years at a large international law firm in Washington, DC. Stephanie received her Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law, and her Bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Boston College.

Brendalyn Edwards, Esq.

Former 2015-16 Director, Brendalyn Edwards, served on the Board of Miami-Dade FAWL for many years as a Director and Chair of various committees, including Website, Public Relations, and Diversity. After a vibrant career as an Assistant General Counsel for the Eleventh Judicial Circuit of Florida, representing judicial officers and staff in court proceedings, Brendalyn accepted a position outside of Florida, which left her no choice but to step down from her Board duties in late November 2015.

The members of the Board are proud to have spent many great years working with Brendalyn and are grateful for her service. Brendalyn earned her J.D. from the Florida State University College of Law in Tallahassee, Florida, and her B.A. from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Courtney L. Engelke, Esq.

Courtney serves as a Director of MDFAWL, and co-chair of the Accessibility and Scholarship Committees. She is an associate at Colson Hicks Eidson and represents clients in products liability, premises liability, and catastrophic personal injury/wrongful death cases. Courtney received her law degree from Florida International University College of Law where she was also a member of the FIU Law Review.

Mallory Gold, Esq.

Mallory Gold currently sits on the Board of Directors for Miami-Dade FAWL and serves as co-chairperson of the Scholarship Committee. For the last two years, she served as co-chair of the Continuing Legal Education Committee. Mallory is Assistant General Counsel for the Memorial Healthcare System. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University before obtaining her Juris Doctor (Summa Cum Laude and Order of the Coif) from the University of Miami School of Law. Mallory also sits on the Board of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s young professional division, The Network.

Diana C. Mendez , Esq.

Diana C. Mendez is an associate at Llorente & Heckler, P.A. where she counsels clients through all phases of the government procurement process including identifying government contracting opportunities, financing sources and opportunities for public-private partnerships. She also assists clients with teaming arrangements, proposal preparation, responsiveness and responsibility review, minority and disadvantaged business enterprise certifications, contract negotiations and bid protest litigation. In addition to her position at Llorente & Heckler, P.A, Diana is also a senior associate at LSN Partners, LLC, where she conducts legislative and regulatory advocacy, research and analysis.

Before joining Llorente & Heckler, P.A., Diana served as an attorney-advisor for the U.S. Small Business Administration in Herndon, Virginia. She received her B.A. in Economics and International Relations graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2006 from Florida International University. In 2010, she received her J.D. Cum Laude from the American University, Washington College of Law and a M.A. in International Affairs from American University’s School of International Service. While in law school, she was the Executive Director for The Modern American, one of the fastest growing publications on diversity and the law.

In addition to serving on Miami-Dade FAWL’s Board of Directors, Diana co-chairs the Website Committee and is also a member of the Corporate Counsel Liaison Committee.

Stephanie Moot

Stephanie serves as a Director of MDFAWL and chairs the Accessibility Committee. She is a litigation associate in the Miami office of K&L Gates. She focuses her practice on commercial and ADA litigation. She represents clients in a range of matters, including contract disputes, ADA compliance, employment discrimination and commercial mortgage foreclosures. She also interned with the United States Department of Justice and United States Securities and Exchange Commission.

Kelly M. Peña

Kelly M. Peña is an associate attorney in the Miami office of Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart, P.C. Ms. Peña’s practice focuses primarily on labor and employment litigation. She draws from considerable experience representing clients in civil matters including wage and hour claims, discrimination claims, ERISA benefits litigation, and a variety of tort claims. Ms. Peña is also active in the community. She serves as a Director, Awards Chair and Public Relations Co-Chair for the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, Miami-Dade Chapter and also serves as attorney ad litem for foster youth through Lawyers for Children America. Ms. Peña has also worked to help start the Character & Fitness Initiative with Miami-Dade FAWL and has participated in various community outreach efforts, assisting in fundraising for the YWCA’s Court Care Program and mentoring with Children’s Home Society.

Jody Shulman, Esq.

Jody serves as a Director of MDFAWL, and chair of the Judicial Reception Planning and Sponsorship Committees. She has been a member of the Massachusetts bar for 27 years, of which 17 years she was a litigator specializing in divorce, paternity, and family law matters. She also serves on the Board of B’nai B’rith Justice Unit 5207 and Legal Services of Greater Miami, and serves on the 11th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee. Jody is currently employed with U.S. Legal Support where she focuses her time on providing court reporting, record retrieval, transcription/translation, trial presentation and ediscovery services to the legal community. She specializes in finding solutions for complex, class action and multi-district litigation cases. Lastly, she is co-founder of “Make a Difference Miami”, where she is committed to raising monies for Both Dade Legal Aid and Legal Services of Greater Miami.

Alicia H. Welch, Esq.

Alicia serves as a Director of MDFAWL, and chair of the Social Media and Federal Court Liaison Committees. She is a litigation associate at Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman, P.L. in Coral Gables and focuses her practice on representing South Florida municipalities and private sector clients in a wide-variety of litigation matters in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Prior to joining the firm, Alicia served as a law clerk to The Honorable Patricia A. Seitz of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Before clerking, Alicia served as an Assistant Corporation Counsel in the New York City Law Department. In this capacity, Alicia defended the City of New York, its agencies, and employees in lawsuits involving discrimination claims and constitutional challenges to employment decisions. In addition to her work with Miami-Dade FAWL, Alicia is a member of the Federal Bar Association, South Florida Chapter. Alicia received her J.D., cum laude, and Master of Public Policy degrees from the University of Maryland, and her B.A., magna cum laude, in political science and public communication from American University.

Talia Zucker, Esq.

Talia Zucker is an associate at Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP in the Global Products Liability Group. Her practice focuses on the defense of large tobacco companies in complex litigation. Talia currently serves as a trustee for the Dade County Defense Bar Association and has served as the Newsletter Editor of the Miami-Dade Chapter of the Florida Association for Women Lawyers.
